How to share an Image

  • I'm new to SSRS 2008, I'm using Business Studio to build the reports.

I intended to release on Native mode (Report manager website).

How should I put a company Logo in the Report so all reports share this. If in the future I change the Logo it reflects in all Reports by just updating the image.

I would like to have relative links to the Logo e.g.\images\logo.jpeg so I wouldn't have to change the property when deploying.

I know I'm missing something simple.

  • I believe you could create an images directory on the report server itself and upload your images there and then the report can use the relative path the the image. I'm not sure how you would test this in SSDT-BI though.

  • Thanks Jack..

That was my plan, but I want something I can test in my dev environment first. The important part for me is not having to change the rdl files when deploying them, so use relative paths.

  • Hi

If I add the image file to the reports section in the solution. "Add existing item" and select an image.

It is available in the drop down when I choose external source in the image control on a report.

It then works in dev (B.I studio) and on my local ReportServer. I can then upload a different image with same name and the Report Server picks it up.

The problem form organisation viewpoint I have rdl files and jpeg/gif files mixed up.

My ideal solution would be to have an /images/ virtual directory with the images in.
