Large network packet size

  • Hi,

I noticed couple of sessions with a larger network packet size of 32764 while investigating the performance issues on a SQL Server2008 R2(windows 2008). the network size(default) was set to 4096 bytes but why sql server is accepting a higher packets? Does the default size will work only for sql server out flow packets? Is this expected or should be fixed?

Please advise me some recommendations to tune.

    Thanks

    Rocky.

  • packet size can be set at the client level also
