I'm really hoping someone may be able to point me in some type of direction with this. I'd like to use a database project to manage our database model. We have many queries that use linked servers and even more that use cross database references.

When I try to define a database reference the option to "Update the existing schema object definitions and scripts to use the database reference variables" is nowhere to be found. I've tried this in Visual Studio 2010 Professional as well as Visual Studio 2012. I thought maybe it had something to do with our database so I created 2 test databases, one having a view that queried the other, and tried to create a database project off of these. Same thing happens.

The options to create the database/server variables are there, as well as a check box to suppress errors caused by unresolved references in the referenced project.

I'd appreciate any advice to get this working!
