    Rookie here :hehe:

  • Could you explain more clearly what you did which you wish you hadn't down? What did you download and install by mistake? You say "error". Does this mean that you get an error message somewhere?

I havent got any kind of error message.

I was asked to make an update of my current sql server (RTM 2012) to Sp1 with cu4.

I am aware of the process of installation..

I need to upgrade it first to Sp1 then i need to apply cu4..

But, while i download those files. I got an regular permission to download multiple files.

I keep saying yes to download for all the files i need.

But i realized later that i might have said YES to RUN instead of saving it locally in my system..

Before i figured it out. i started my regular process i supposed to do...

But that was too late. i found that was messed up with my server...

Now i tried to revert them back by uninstalling from control pannel..

    But my tries go invain..

    Not allowing me to uninstall...

What am i supposed to do now..

Is there any other way i can solve this..

and one more thing is... i checked for the version number in sql server it does show the SQL RTM version number...

No update was done to the SQL Server..

In that case I would try applying the service pack and then CU4. It appears that nothing has really happened on your system.

  • . It appears that nothing has really happened on your system.

it is not allowing me to install the sp1..

While i run the setup file manually or through CMD

It doesnt show any changes done

  • Sorry, it's far from clear what you are doing. But as I recall what you down load is a self-extracting package. Thus, once you have extracted the package, you need to run Setup.exe.

  • It is a self extracting package.

After extracting to the target location, The folder doesnt store.

I tried it many times, also by downloading fresh file.

    But could see no luck.

  • Earlier you said that it did not install, and you could not uninstall it. Now you are saying that extraction doesn't work? Why on Earth would try to uninstall something which does not extract properly?

I'm afraid that this thread is going nowhere. I suggest that you open a case with Microsoft CSS, as it is apparent that you need someone to guide you through the process step by step. And, yes, that support call will cost you an arm and a leg.

  • An arm and Leg are no good than a HEAD
