Solution needed for multple matrix data regions

Background
I have a matrix data region displaying data having to do with customer surveys. Row displays the Survey type, Columns displays the survey question text and Data is the aggregated favorable result percentage. The questions are grouped into categories. In order to display the information per the customer request, I have to have a separate data region filtering the data for each category. There are currently 15 categories(15 separate data regions) but I am being told that can increase in the future.

Question
Is there any way to handle this issue without having to create separate data regions? Perhaps through code?
