I am used to seeing this error when on a local SQL session connected to a remote server, BUT, In this case I am using Remote Desktop to log onto the server, and trying to run some statements locally on that server. Is that unusual ? What should I look for as the cause ?

Msg 121, Level 20, State 0, Line 0
A transport-level error has occurred when receiving results from the server. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - The semaphore timeout period has expired.)
