hi,
I want to gain a certification of entry level. I'm working as a BI developer for around 5 years and found 70-448 BI development and maintainance SQL2008 to be the best one to start.
However, this certification is expiring in July 2013, which makes me think whether it is a wise decision to go for a cerftification which is valid only for few months.
I may be missing on few other important aspects and hence need some enlightment.
Please help

This certification doesn't really "expire". You can keep putting it on your resume.
I think they mean there won't be any exams for 70-448 anymore after July 2013.
Need an answer? No, you need a question

The certs don't expire (well, not the MCTS/MCITP ones). The exam is retiring in June, so the cert can't be written after that. If obtained, the cert is still valid, it still appears on the transcript under active certifications.
The exams going forward (MCSE, etc) expire after 3 years and require recertification. The difference with them is that the certs are no longer tied to a product version (eg it's MCSE: Data Platform, not MCSE: SQL Server 2012)
