Can't Run Job Activity Monitor from Remote SSMS

  • When I connect via RDP to the machine hosting SQL Server 2008 R2 and run SSMS, I can run the Job Activity Monitor. When I run SSMS on a remote machine, it says that it is "Unable to execute requested command."

I log into SSMS using the same account in both cases.

    What could be causing that?

    Thanks,

    Tom

  • Contact your System Admin. When you use the RDP you're on the native client and have different permissions from when you access remotely. That would be my guess as I had that issue myself once and had to have the SysAdm allow permissions to read cpu stat remotely.
