I was trying to start to schedule a few exams, and noticed that there are several versions of the same exam (I think). For example:
Microsoft - 070-461 - Querying Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Microsoft Academic - 072-461 - Querying Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Microsoft IT Academic Exam - 073-461 - Querying Microsoft SQL Server 2012
The reason I asked, was one simple confusion; and two the price to take each one is very different: $150, $83, $72, at the place that I was looking at testing. Call me crazy but why would I spend the extra 70 bucks if I don't have to? I think this probably has something to do with if one is a college student or something, but i'm not positive? Any thoughts?

sean hawkes (2/21/2013) I think this probably has something to do with if one is a college student or something
That exactly it. Although I'm still not clear on the difference between the 072 and 073 exams the Prometric website says:
If you belong to an academic institution, join the Microsoft IT Academy program, an alliance that provides students with a premium education on cutting-edge Microsoft technologies.
I got that text from this site: https://www.prometric.com/en-us/clients/Microsoft/pages/landing.aspx
