Moving DB with CLR Assemblies

  • When I move a databse containing CLR Assemblies & stored procedures from one server to another, do I need the dll file to reload the assembly? I know I have to set the Trustworthy option appropriately. I couldn't find anything related to this quickly on google and need to ensure it all works after its moved.

    Thanks in advance!!!

  • afaik you nolonger need the assembly once you have created it in sqlserver.

You can even script it. That will generate a long binary string, but will be portable.

So you can just restore the db at a new location and keep on using the clr function (as long as the clr environment has been activated is sys.configurations)

(this off course only as long as your clr assembly actually contains all code it needs!)
