SQL server Agent

  • Hi

Will somebody help me with this. What is the name of the component/dll/exe which is responsible for the automatic startup of the Sql Agent. I have configured startup mode of the Sql agent as Automatic but still it does not start automatically i have to start it manually. I was thinking is it possible to repair that particular component?

    Thanks in Advance.

  • Full path on my workstation:

    "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\Binn\SQLAGENT.EXE" -i MSSQLSERVER"

check the account that you specified to start the service first, sounds like you have a permission issue....

  • Hi

It was working fine till the 8th of this month but from then on it stopped starting automatically. i have the LocalSyatem as the login account. never changed any settings.

    Thanks

  • i have the LocalSyatem as the login account.

Just as a test, change the account to a domain admin account, and see if the agent starts automatically.

Have you checked your logs for any error or warning messages?

  • I would verify that the account can connect to SQL. Check the Agent error log for startup messages, along with the Windows event logs (app + system)

  • Hi

I am going through the logs and tresting by changing the account. will let you know once iam through.

Thank you very much for the advice.

    Thanks Again.

  • Hi

  • Hi

How to read the .out files generated by sql agent?

I have checked the event log its giving the error as Unable to read local eventlog (reason: The parameter is incorrect).

    need to add this

With the login LocalSystem or any other user i am getting this(tested this for 2 logins)

Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM'. [CLIENT: <local machine>]

    Thanks.
