Cube Browser not displaying data for selected dimensions

  • Hi,

I have just built a cube on Analysis Services 2008 with the following structure:

    Dimensions: A,B,C,D,E

    Measure Groups: X,Y

Measures: X1 (part of measure group X), Y1 (part of measure group Y)

    Dimensions A and D are role-playing dimensions with a parent-child relationship.

Under the Dimension Usage tab, I have set up the dimension relationships such that:

Dimensions A and B are mapped only to Measure Group X

Dimension C is mapped to both measure groups X and Y

Dimensions D and E are mapped only to Measure Group Y

After I deployed and processed the cube, I tried to browse the data through the Cube Browser. I dragged Measure X1 and dimension B. It showed an empty cell. I dragged Measure Y1 and dimension E. Same empty cell. I dragged both measures X1 and Y1 and then dragged dimension C, which is mapped to both measure groups. Empty cell again. I then tried dragging Measure X1 and dimension B. I got data. I then dragged dimension B and placed it under A, and I got the data again.

Similarly, I was able to view the data for the measure Y1 only after dragging the dimension D and then placing dimension E under dimension D.

Not sure if this would help in any way, but the language and collation settings for the cube and dimensions are set to Thai. I even checked changing the language in the Cube Browser, but still no luck.

I have absolutely no clue what's happening. It would be great if someone could help me out with this!

    Thanks!

  • I seem to have found out the cause of the problem.

For dimensions A and D, I had set the IsAggregatable property to False because I didn't want to see the 'All' level. Once I changed this back to True, it started working.

Which leaves me with a new problem: If I do not want to see the 'All' level and set the IsAggregatable property to False ONLY for a few dimensions, will I continue to face this problem? Is there any way I can change this setting for only a few dimensions and continue to see the data for other dimensions as well?

    Kindly help!
