Scheduling SSIS Packages

  • Hi,

I am new to creating and deploying SSIS.

I have created s SSIS package in BIDS, which I run manually daily, by using execute package.

I now want it scheduled to run at 2am in the morning daily.

I have the created the package on one server (server 1), but the the only licensed SQL Server Agent is on another server (server2).

How do I schedule a job to run on server 2 daily when the package is on server 1.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • When you schedule a SQL Agent job for an SSIS package, the job step UI allows you to select any SSIS server for choosing the package.

However, the package will be run on the server that the SQL Agent is running on. If you want the package to run locally on the SSIS server it is being stored on, you either need to use the local SQL Agent, or execute the package through a remote command line (or create some kind of custom service to run it).
