I have 2005 SQL standard and connecting to AS400 system. I tried Client Access Drivers/ Downloaded a new driver from DataDirect ODBC. I cannot make the connection no matter what I try. I have DNS setup and everything. I did lots of searching and it appears everyone has the same problem. This is my last attempt to create a connection between the SQL server and AS400.
I'm thinking it's probably the driver is not compatable. I may go ahead and pay for Microsoft to fix this issue if they can. I'm starting to think I should not of gone with 2005. Thanks in advanced if anyone has a fix.
thanks Donny

Have you tried the Microsoft OLEDB Provider for DB2 available in the feature pack as opposed to IBM's client access driver?

Thanks for the Advice, I think that may work if I had Enterprise or Developers edition. I downloaded it and it said I do not have the correct version. But thanks you turned me on to some other idea's I havn't saw before.
I kept reading about IBM having a UNI Driver of some sort for ODBC. I'll see what happens until tommorow. I probably will be calling Microsoft about this and open up a support case.

NP - Just a side note, if you happen to have access to a copy of Host Integration Server you can install this OLE DB provider as well irregardless of what version of SQL you are running. A backdoor I found some time ago 🙂
