Preview while building report - action on web

  • I have built 3 reports that are linked together.

1 - Region report (contains region, zone, location, month, hiring plan count) - no Parameters needed to run this report, but carries out the location parameter to next report. The regions appear in a matrix report with drill down to zone, then drill down to location. Link is out from location at this point.

2 - Location report (contains location, month, hiring plan count, actual hired count) - uses location parameter when linked from region report. The location name is distinct, so do not carry out the region and zone to the location report.

Note - the location report can also be used from a link by itself - the user picks from 3 cascading drop down lists for region, zone, location. The cascading lists are only used for a limit to the number of location names a user has to choose from.

3 - Actual report (contains location, month, actual hired count, employee info).

When working in reporting services, all links work fine and each report functions as I need.

When moved to server and the reports are accessed through a Visual Studio application, the Parameters will not link down to each report.

In the Location report, there are 3 drop down list Parameters that the user chooses from. During building and preview, the choices can be changed, click the view report button, and the data changes accordingly. When the report is accessed through the application from Report Manager, the 'view report' button does not cause the data to change to the new Parameters.

Would appreciate any comments on why the reports function as designed in the 'preview' while building, but will not function or carry Parameters when accessed through the application.
