Yeah, so do I.  I had to look it up then.  And here my wife says I forget things - I remembered this. πŸ˜‰

I almost clicked on what was eventually the correct answer but then second guessed myself and looked it up again. I was surprised that I remembered it correctly. πŸ˜›

Good question. I remember another question on emails and data masking a couple months ago but can't remember what it was.

I remembered that question too and I think it was more about if the email was "user.name@company.org" would masking make it "uXXX.XXX@XXX.org" or "uXXX.XXX@XXX.com" or "uXXX@XXX.org" or "uXXX@XXX.com"... but I could be wrong on that.

I like the easy questions like this one.  I take these questions and send them out to all the DBA's where I work and keep a tally of how many people get correct total and per year.  I'm currently in 2nd place... out of the 3 of us LOL.  BUT I only started doing this for the past 136 QOTDs.  But it is nice to have a little friendly competition in the workplace.

The above is all just my opinion on what you should do.Β
As with all advice you find on a random internet forum - you shouldn't blindly follow it.Β  Always test on a test server to see if there is negative side effects before making changes to live!
I recommend you NEVER run "random code" you found online on any system you care about UNLESS you understand and can verify the code OR you don't care if the code trashes your system.

I remembered that it was not exactly intuitive and checked BoL.  Thanks, Steve!

I too had to check bol. I like the BOL definition that the domain will be a constant suffix of ".com"

  • I tend to dislike the definition that it's always .com. Could be a problem in some cases. I'd like the option to leave the suffix, set it, or vary it.
