I think I agree with both arguments. Yes slow download is without doubt an SEO factor but SQL in itself is not the issue. Also Google are looking at 2-4 seconds for a page to render. If your SQL hasn’t executed within this time frame I’m sure you’re looking at a heavy duty browser application not a “sales” website
