My query is whether SQL server license is required for the WEB server & for the application server ?Or is it required only for the database server.

It's required wherever it is installed.
If you haven't even tried to resolve your issue, please don't expect the hard-working volunteers here to waste their time providing links to answers which you could easily have found yourself.
