...Years ago I found a simple solution, if a developer or junior came to with no evidence of having tried to think for themselves then my answer was blunt. They learnt that even a minimal amount of effort on their behalf they could gain my help...
That is how I work too. If you see my responses on the forums here (I am most active on the PowerShell forum) you will see a pattern of asking posters to supply a query or an issue not a task specification.
