ArcGIS server 10.3 and sqlserver 2014

  • I am planning on upgrading to ArcGIS server 10.3. We are currently at sqlserver 2008 and and want to upgrade to SQLserver 2014. Has anybody here done that? Is SS 2014 a bit faster? Can you still do an updade so you don't have to crecreate everything again?

    Thanks much.

  • check with the vendor whether they support SQL Server 2014 at the ArcGIS product level you are intending to use

  • I checked with ESRI and they support SQQQQLServer 2014.

It is definitely faster, more of a difference on the ArcGIS side than the SQL Server side (depending on what version you are coming from) although in my experience the SQL Server 2014 is the fastest yet.

I need to justify the upgrade to my boss.

    Speed is a big reason.
