DPM

  • We are in the process of completely moving our SQL Server 2008 R2 active/active cluster (6 instances/150+ databases) to multiple SQL Server 2014 clusters utilizing "Always On" Availability groups. I am new to Availability groups, but our exchange group said they have been using this technology for some time now.

We met today to discuss also moving to Data Protection Manager as opposed to using the SQL Server 2014 Management Studio backup process (we currently use SQL Server 2008 R2 maintenance plans). I was hoping others on this forum could let me know if they currently use DPM and if there are pros and cons.

Thank you to all they read this and reply in advance,

    Charlie
