When I create my logical disk, I use Microsoft best practice and format them with a Allocation size of 64 Kb. I can move my back up files around in my environment from my server disks to other servers with out any corruption.
I just had to copy a backup file to a portable drive. It's disk allocation unit size was set as 4096 b "default". I copied a 80 GB file to it and every time it was corrupt. I used windows to copy the file as well as teracopy.
If I re-formatted the disk with a allocation unit size of 64 Kb to match my environment, the file copied and it did not get corrupted.
This is the first time I had encountered this issue. Is it because of the file size? If so, what is the max file size I would start encountering this issue?
