Well, I was given good news and bad news today. Before I get to that, though, I go home for Christmas/New Years in 61 days! Only home for two weeks then back out here to Afghanistan.

Now, the bad news, my request for an extension until September 2015 was denied.

The good news, when I come home at the end of February I still have a job with ISS.

That is awesome!!! Wish you would have been able to stay as you wanted but at least it sounds like things will be fairly easy to step back into when you get home for good.

Just need to know what my job is when I get home. I think I'll try to get a lunch meeting with the Field Services Director while home over Christmas to see what I will be doing when I redeploy as well as work out a much needed vacation before starting back to work. I will need time to veg a bit.

That's mostly great news, Lynn. At least you still have a job when your assignment ends. And yes, the time to chill out and relax a bit is long overdue. You've been out there for what seems like forever and I don't imagine you get much time to wind down. Glad to hear you still have a job when you come home. Christmas with the family - that's the best news of all.

Coming home for Christmas was part of this last extension I got that runs through February 27, 2015. I didn't want a break in September as much as I wanted to be home for Christmas.
