Key Responsibilities
•Primary responsibilities are administration, support and development of Microsoft SQL Server version 2005/2008R2/2012 in a clustered environment.
•Perform SQL database administration tasks:
oMonitoring and tuning all SQL databases to ensure high availability
oMonitoring production databases and data processing jobs
oImplementing and administering database replication
oTroubleshooting performance issues and fine-tuning queries and stored procedures
oCoordinating database checkpoint frequencies, archive logging, resource usage with programmers and system administrators
oCreating capacity planning forecast
oEstablishing and maintaining backup/restore procedures with CommVault
oFamiliar with High Availability options
oFamiliar with Disaster Recovery solutions
oSupport and/or participate in 7 X 24 hour production support
•Provide support to Application Development Groups in the following ways:
oProviding logical database structures alternatives
oCreating a physical database design
oHelping with construction, testing and installation
oEnsuring application performance, integrity and availability
•Proficient with system development techniques and tools
•SQL Server Software Maintenance:
oInstalling, configuring, securing SQL Production servers
oUpgrading and upsizing databases from earlier versions to the latest versions
oApplying and testing maintenance fixes
oProviding technical support to the application developers
oReviewing new databases that come with purchased packages
Requirements:
•Experience supporting mission critical production systems is required.
•Good oral and written communications skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with the peers, other application teams and clients.
•Organization and time management skills are critical.
•Must continue to enhance technical knowledge and skills through research and experimentation, in-house and external classes.
Educational/Certification Requirements:
•Candidate must have a 4-year degree (or equivalent experience) and five years prior experience in information systems data management.
•Requires solid knowledge of MS SQL Server programming and administration for mission critical systems.
