As an update to this thread.

I decided to return to my previous company, they offered more money without me asking so now the pay is closer.

Sure there is not much movemetn potential, but I will be doing more technical work (including SSIS, SSRS, etc) and not be wholy dedicated to process and documentation.

Bummed out this didn't turn out like I was told it would, but after a lot of soul searching I settled on enjoying my job vs possible future outcomes.
