Transaction Log auto-growth

  • I have been reading about optimizing the transaction log and how important it is to get the right value for auto-growth, however I have not found any way to check what it is currently or to change it once it's been set.

Is it possible (or advisable) to change transaction log auto-growth after the database has been created?

How do you look at what the auto-growth is (presumably it's 10% because it has not been changed)?

  • Object explorer. Right click the DB, select the Files tab. Yes, it is advisable to change it if badly set.
