SSAS tabular mode Vs SSRS

  • Hi,

If we use SSAS Tabular mode, then don't we need to use SSRS?

So end users directly user SQL Data tools and work with the data?

What is the purpose of SSAS Tabular mode?

  • Tabular is just like SSAS Multidimensional: it provides an analytic abstraction layerto end users to allow easier analytic reporting and analysis.

The difference is that Tabular compresses data using column store and that it loads all data into memory.

You can build reports with SSRS on top of Tabular, or you could use Excel/PerformancePoint/Power View to create dashboards and reports on top of Tabular.
