Backup policy for a 2 TB database.....
what would you recommend exactly and why for each day of the week. what you would do daily, weekly and monthly.
Also, if we have a hardware failure on Wednesday morning what would we need to be able to restore the most recent copy of the database?
Please provide 2 part answers.
Part 1 ) backing up detailed info for hourly, daily, weekly, monthly and yearly for a 2 tb database.
Part 2 ) What is needed to restore the DB if there was a hardware failure on Wednesday morning at 10AM. Assume that we will need all login ID's and DB jobs restored as well.

You'll find most folks here are a bit loathe to answer interview questions, and we've become pretty adept at picking them out when someone isn't up front about it. However, since you ARE being up front about it, I'll tell you what you need to research. The problem with a question like this is a canned answer sounds canned, and if you can't explain the whys you're in trouble.
What you want to look into, for starters, is point in time recovery and full recovery mode. Include in that research differential backups and how the log chain interacts with the recovery of the database.

Not enough information. Would need to know at least:
RPO and RTO
Maintenance window
Backup retention policies
Available storage space

There's no 'general' solution to backing up a 2 TB database.
General: Backup often enough that you will be able to restore to meet your RPO, backup so that your restore sequence will worst case meet your RTO, and make sure that everything fits into the acceptable maintenance windows.
