Cluster Validation fails to check Storage

  • Hi,

We build 2 node cluster on Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 x64. The cluster validation fails under storage as below:

    From Cluster Validation report:

    Name Result Description

    List All Disks Failed

    List Potential Cluster Disks Canceled

    Validate Disk Access Latency Canceled

    Validate Disk Arbitration Canceled

    Validate Disk Failover Canceled

    Validate File System Canceled

    Validate Microsoft MPIO-based disks Canceled

    Validate Multiple Arbitration Canceled

Validate SCSI device Vital Product Data (VPD) Canceled

    Validate SCSI-3 Persistent Reservation Canceled

    Validate Simultaneous Failover Canceled

    The Actual error message:

    List All Disks

List all disks visible to one or more nodes (including non-cluster disks).

    Prepare storage for testing

Preparing storage for testing on node SQL1.abc.com

Failed to prepare storage for testing on node SQL1.abc.com status 87

Failed to prepare storage for testing on node SQL1.abc.com status 87

Is this a bug or known issue?

Can we skip the Items that causing this issue and run the Validation? If yes what are the things we need to uncheck in Cluster validation wizard?

  • What storage mediums are you using?

    Local disks, San, etc

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Ya can't make an omelette without breaking just a few eggs" 😉

  • The storage is SAN.

  • Could it be that some drives has not got their drive letters (or mount points) assigned?

    Status 87
