Unable to create a subscription

  • I have a SSRS report published on a 2005 server that I need to save to a file, and then FTP to a client. It sounded simple enough to create a subscription thats saves to a file share, which I can then grab and FTP to the client in a script or SSIS package. However, I don't seem to have the ability to create a subscription on the report... the option (New Subscription...) is there in Management Studio, but it is grayed out. I assume there is some configuration step that I'm missing, but I haven't found it yet. The user is the same one that created the report, and has system administrator permissions in SSRS. Everything is on the same server, so there should be no issues of crossing domains or anything like that.

Anyone seen this before? Thoughts or suggestions?

    Thanks

  • Can you create a subscription when you use the Report Manager web-frontend?

If that's not available as well, you might look into a couple of prerequisites for subscriptions:

    - Is SQL Agent running

    - are the delivery extensions enabled on the RS instance

    - is the SQL agent under an account that has access to the fileshare

    etc.

see for instance in BOL, and other parts of BOL
