I’m really pleased to announce that new Power BI Migration documentation that I authored is published on the Microsoft Docs site. Although it was written from the perspective of migrating to Power BI from another platform, there’s no doubt that a lot of the content applies to a standard Power BI implementation project.

The content is structured as follows:

  • Power BI migration overview

  • Prepare to migrate to Power BI

  • Stage 1: Gather requirements to migrate to Power BI

  • Stage 2: Plan deployment to migrate to Power BI

  • Stage 3: Conduct proof of concept to migrate to Power BI

  • Stage 4: Create content to migrate to Power BI

  • Stage 5: Deploy to Power BI

  • Learn from customer Power BI migrations

Thanks to Peter Myers for teaching me about publishing requirements for the Microsoft Docs site. And thanks to all the Customer Advisory Team (CAT) members who reviewed the content and provided feedback.

Also, if you aren’t familiar with it, also be sure to check out the Planning a Power BI Enterprise Deployment whitepaper. Version 3 with a lot of updates was released in May.
