Restore failing from Network Drive

  • Hi Guys,

I always use to restore our Test server from the network successfully, But now when i am getting this error message, The process fails at the 20% mark with a error message as shown below, DB size is 250GB on sql server 2005 sp2 & windows 2003 enterprise version sp2.

System.Data.SQLClient.SQLError: Read on '\\ServerName\Directory\Folder\File.bak' failed: 1130(Not enough server storage is available to process this command.) (Microsoft.SQLServer.Smo)

Can some one please Let me know what to do, i tried two times same result, But now i did change this from seeing a forum,

    Click on Start, Run, Regedit

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters

Click Edit, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.

Type IRPStackSize , and then press ENTER to name the value.

Note: Type IRPStackSize exactly as it is displayed.

The value name is case sensitive.

    Radix: Decimal

Value data: 20 (increase by increments of 2 if the problem persists)

WARNING: Do not set to 32 Decimal or higher which might cause network related issues.

When you get a chance, stop and restart the server service.

Note: When you stop the server service, your network shares will be temporarily unavailable.

So again started by changing this settings, will see whether it will restore successful or not.

    Thanks

  • Did this resolve it?
