local system account and domain account

  • Hi All,

I have SQL Server 2000 on a virtual PC windows server 2003. The startup SQL Server service account is a local system account. I have mapped a network drive from host machine eg:\\server name\\share. I am able to access this shared path from SQL Server. My question is even though startup SQL server service is local system account how it is possible to access shared network drive? I have read that the local system account, however, does not have access rights to networking services. Could any one please explain me exactly what is happening here? I think I am not clear about network concept here. confused! Your help is greatly appreciated.

    Thank you,

    Assh
