Hi all,
In QA I recently added a new ndf to one of the DB involved in Logshipping and it break the logshipping.
Again i have sync up the data with a full DB backup and restore.
Can any one please let me know why it breaks the log shipping.
Also i'm curious to know whether the same will work for mirroring or it will break the mirroring also.

Adding a secondary data file will not break mirroring as long as you have the same folder structure on the mirror server.
For example adding datafile2.ndf:
Add datafile2.ndf to C:\Data\ on primary and C:\Data\ exists on mirror everything is fine.
Add datafile2.ndf to C:\Data\ on primary and C:\Data\ does not exist on mirror, then mirroring will be suspended until the directory is created on the mirror side, then you will have to manually resume mirroring.

When you try to add the Secondary file in the Primary Database it goes into suspect mode. Why because what ever you have to perform any transaction in Primary Database internally same transaction try to run in the Mirror Database. In mirror database also try to add the secondary file , but that folder exits the same file of Primary.
SO mirroring is not support the filestream.
Please guide me if i am worng..
