Windows AD Group >> Sysadmins SQL Server 2005

    Hi there Everyone,

    I have a Windows AD group call DB1SysAdmins

    I put freddag into the DB1SysAdmins AD Group

    I Add the DB1SysAdmins Login to DB1 (sql server 2005)

    I add the DB1SysAdmins login into the server role "Sysadmin"

    When I log onto Management studio as Freddag, it hasn't given me Sysadmin access. I run the is_rolemeber??? logged on as freddag and it returns 0..

    If I add servers\freddag as a sql login and add this user into the sysadmin it works OK..

    can you someone please clarify what i'm doing wrong?

    Have you logged on as Freddag after adding him to the AD group? His token won't include that he is a member of that group until it is regenerated, which is essentially at login.

    Thanks, yea I logged off as that user and logged on again and it pickup the sysadmin role.
