Missing installation media for SQL Server 7.0

  • Hi all,

In the true spirit of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it", our company has been maintaining an installation of SQL 7 on W2k to keep a legacy Great Plains Dynamics ERP system available for historical reference.

Being viewed as a non critical server, it escaped the attention of the primary DR systems and recently suffered multiple hardware failures to which we weren't able to recover.

To the best of our knowledge, the SQL database is still in tact on the RAID 5 volume so a rebuild of the server has commenced. W2k is up and running and we have the Great Plains 5.5 installer discs however we can't locate the SQL 7 discs. The plan is to establish the DB's integrity then migrate up the SQL versions as far as we can, again, just to maintain it's availability. The current ERP sits on SQL server 2013.

Attempting to pull the DB straight into a 2000 instance is a consideration though it would be preferable to bring it back up on 7 first.

I'd appreciate hearing from anyone having a similar experience and very grateful if I can source a copy of the SQL 7.0 discs. We're fully compliant with Microsoft Licensing but SQL 7 is long past support therefore install discs are no longer available.

    Thanks in advance.

    Damien.
