What is the encoding of the XML resulting from a FOR XML query?

Can I force an encoding?

I'm sorry but I failed to get an answer from the provided link.

I have a query that evaluates into an XML document.

I want to read it with SqlCommand.ExecuteXmlReader.

But the accented characters are no right. Not even when I run the query in a Visual Studio 2013 query window and open the XML result.

Instead of trying to describe the issue you're struggling with just verbally, it would be more helpful if you could post some sample data so we have something to test against.

Hmm, that article directly answers the first question and implicitly the latter, looks like those where not the questions you meant to ask. To clear things, please respond to LutzM's post.

Looks like my data is in some strange collation that I can't find out what it is, and that is my problem.

Sorry to have wasted your time.

There's no time wasted so far ;-)

All we asked you for is an example of what you're struggling with instead of verbal descriptions. Please keep in mind that we can't look over your shoulder so we don' see what you see.
