RedGate Developer Bundle

  • Last week I downloaded the 14 day RedGate Developer Bundle Trial version to play around with it. Mainly I wanted to try out the Compare tools, but I installed everything, including SQL Prompt. As soon as it finished installing, it started playing merry hell with my system. Every time I open up SSMS or switch back to SSMS after checking email or opening a Word document, SSMS suddenly slows to a crawl and "freezes" for a good 20-30 seconds before it allows me to do anything.

Even after "speeding up" or recovering or whatever it's doing, SQL Prompt is terribly slow compared to the native intellisense (not that the native intellisense can keep up with my typing speed either).

Does anyone else have this problem with the SQL Developer Bundle?

  • You should contact their support. Red Gate has an excellent support team and I'm sure they would be helpful in checking if their product is causing problems.

I'm currently running Windows 8.1 and SQL Management Studio 2012, and I haven't had any problems with Red Gate products, I've found that SQL Prompt is extremely fast and efficient.

  • Haven't seen this, though I usually use the Toolbelt. I install/update this on multiple VMs regularly (every month).
