Report run on Server not from user machine

  • I'm able to run my Report from Reporting Service on the server it's on but if I or a user try to run it from our desktop we are unable to excute it, we receive:

Cannot create a connection to data source 'DBName'. (rsErrorOpeningConnection)

For more information about this error navigate to the report server on the local server machine, or enable remote errors.

  • It sounds like your report's data source is set to use the end user's Windows Credentials to connect to the database and either the user doesn't have permission to do that OR your report manager is using anonymous authentication.

Check the setup of the data source on the report.
