Hello,
I hope someone can tell me what is the replacement for Report Model Designer now that it's been deprecated by Microsoft in SQL Server 2012? I'm really surprised that everything I read from Microsoft only says it's no longer supported but doesn't specify what the suggested replacement is. I've been googling for a while and I haven't come up with an answer. I'll keep looking and post back if I find anything.

I just installed SSRS for the report designer and she said she wants to build models but she thinks she can get by with views if that's all she has to work with.
Thanks.

Hi PharmKittie,

Have you find anything yet?

Apparently, you can still generate a model from a datasource but I don't know how you are supposed to modify it afterwards...

Cheers

Hi, you need a licence for BIDS 2008 R2 installed. This can be used to develop, maintain and deploy models

It's fiddly though

I've used it a couple of times successfully

But what I really want is a full-blown replacement for the Report Model

All the best,

Duncan
