SQL Server DBA Needed in Central PA

  • Rite Aid Corporation, one the nation’s leading drugstore chains with more than 4,800 stores in 31 states is seeking a highly motivated SQL Server DBA in their Etters, PA office.

    With over 25,000 SQL instances and 50+ terabytes under management, this DBA position calls for a strong SQL Server 2005, 2008 or 2008 R2 skillset. Experience with Microsoft Clustering, Integration Services, performance optimization, relational design, data partitioning and multi-terabyte SQL database administration is required. Solid understanding of networking concepts, SQL on a SAN configuration and the Windows Server Operating System is also required. Previous programming background in .NET, PowerShell or SQL SMO/DMO is a plus.

    The mission is to constantly improve the customer experience by providing a high degree of availability, security and performance to high volume transactional databases, multi-terabyte analytical databases and in-store databases alike.

    Technology Overview

    SQL Server 2008 R2 rolling out across our base of 4,800 stores. Each store is running multiple instances across the primary server, warm standby cash registers.

    SQL Server 2005, 2008 and 2008R2 is running our corporate systems located in our Shiremanstown,PA data center.

    Tools being used are Confio Ignite for SQL Server, Idera Diagnostic Manager and a number of custom scripts.

    The Rite Aid Datatbase Services team supports most of the major database technologies and nearly 100 terabytes of active data across Oracle, SQL, DB2 Z/OS, DB2 LUW, Informix and PostGresSQL. This opportunity provides a strong and motivated candiate the ability to learn, grow and be exposed to an unlimited amount of technologies.
