Modify Color Palette of a PerformancePoint Services Analytic Chart

  • Hello,

I'm searching for a solution to modify the colors of a PPS Analytic Chart. I'm using SharePoint 2010 with PPS and Dashboard Designer and built a dashboard that contains a bar chart about the revenues of several company departments. I need to change the colors because every department has it's own defined color all over the company.

I tried already to modify the css-style information of the sharepoint site that contains the dashboard, to overwrite the colors after deployment. But I could'nt find any class that sounds like the one I need.

Does anybody know if changing the color palette is possible or does anybody know a workaround to solve the problem?

Thank you all for your answers. Any help would be appreciated!

  • We were trying to do this same thing and never found any work-arounds. There are supposed to be some new Performance Point books coming out later this year. Hopefully at least one of them will address issues like this. From everything I have seen in the tool so far, the ability to format items is severly lacking....

This echoes my experience with PerformancePoint, making any format changes are very difficult and can involve very comples workarounds,

Makes it difficult explaining to a client that they can't add a Vertical Line somehwere or easily change the colours of a pie-chart.

It is a good product and can manipulate data easily but they really need to sort out the formatting side of it, without making people resort to sharepoint css workarounds

  • Do you know a css workaround? I tried, but could'nt find the right point.

  • No we were not able to implement CSS changes so we left the dashboard as is.

Maybe you could use Firebug for Firefox to inspect the page and find the correct CSS class.

  • There is no option to modify the colors of the Analytical report, what you get is what you are stuck with. With PPS 2010 you can change the back ground and have a little more control of the reports (particularly with the data), but you can't change the color of the data elements. If you need that control you will need to explore other tools that provide this flexibility if you need this such as Excel or SSRS. These items can all be integrated into the dashboard as well, but they will not have the same level of interactivity.

  • I see you mentioned in the post above that you can change the background color of a chart in PPS10. How do you do this? I have been trying to find the style sheet but its like searching for the proverbial "needle in a haystack". Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

  • You can modify the chart background in Dashboard Designer on the Edit table. Use the Font section and change the theme color for your chart. Nothing fancy, but that is what we get to work with.
