This will scan analysis services too... Please scan any one IP where analysis services is installed and check the output and let this forum know how it goes...

Not sure this is the correct post for this but:
Like you, I needed to get a list of systems running SQL in our environment and used OSQL to get that list. Once I had this information, requests for more information were made.
I created a SSIS package to pull Server (OS and SQL) and Database information. Such as SQL Version, OS Version, memory installed, the account(s) SQL Server and SQL Agent are running under, database status and recovery mode, database size, the last time the database and logs were backed up.
If anyone is interested send an email to dsclaus@comcast.net I will send a Winzip file of the project.

Hi All,
1) SQlInv.dll is missing in the article.. I'm attaching it here.. I will try to upload it to article... (Please rename .txt to .dll)
2) Also regarding OLAPServer Inventory question... Check the attachment where it is showing Instance Name as OLAPSERVER...
3) Reg using OSQL... I'm sure that it will miss lot of server... Check it...

You want to be careful with tools like this, you can run afoul of your network security people, managers, or policy. At my current place of employ, for example, I cannot run a network sweep to look for instances of SQL Server that I am not aware of. I have also heard of cases where a network sweep like this tripped the IDS and shut down the entire network.
Just make sure you have management's go-ahead before proceeding with something like this.
