RE:

  • Wow! About 12 hours ago I posted similar comments on another forum...although telecommuting is becoming more accepted, I don't think that "agitation" from employees coupled with acknowledgement of the viability of it from management has reached critical mass yet...when it does, I suspect that our society will be transformed in some fundamental ways.

From substantial energy savings to enhanced quality of  home life and (oh yes, by the way) higher and more focused productivity, telecommuting is a win-win proposition.

As the sheer inertia of "it's-always-been-done-this-way" thinking loosens it's grip on the corporate consciousness and the obvious benefits can no longer be ignored, telecommuting can only become more synonymous with 21st-Century work.

Who knows? Someday even the word "telecommuting" will become as obsolete as the term "digital multimedia"...because of its ubiquity.
