Database Restore Testing Documentation

  • I test my database backups about once a month, on average.

My question is, I am in need of a template or document where I can record which database backup was tested, where it was restored to, when was it restored, by whom(won't always be me) and which dbcc commands where run on the restored database. And any other information I may need to add at a later date.

I know I could probably create something in Excel but I need to be able to report to higher ups and provide documentation to them.

    Any Guidance is appreciated.

  • I use RedGate for that, which sends an email.

But in your case, I guess you can copy the DBCC results and save on notepad. Then archive locally on a share. To me, that would be enough evidence that you performed a complete DBCC chek and found zero logical or physical errors.
