PerformancePoint 2010 limitations?

  • I have a couple of things I'm trying to do in my scorecard and absolutely cannot figure out and have found no help online.

    1) I have a hierarchy with measures that drill down a couple levels. The top level heading I do NOT want totals and I can't figure out how to remove them.

    2) I also need to filter out a lower level measure and have done that....however the subtotal STILL includes the filtered amount.

    3) Worst child rollup is NOT working.

    Why is this product so hard to use?

    Any help or helpful sites to use for more advanced questions would be extremely appreciated!

  • You didn't mention type of datasource. I am assuming it's a Analysis Services cube and I will answer the rest.

    1) Go into details using drop down and deselect the total checkbox. It wouldn't show up. See attached picture.

    2) If you use the filter mechanism in PerformancePoint, then it would show up in total. It's basically hiding it, not taking it out of calculation. If you need to do this, then you need to edit it at MDX level. You can use except funtion

    select

    {[Product].[Product Categories].[Category],[Product].[Product Categories]}

    on columns

    from

    [Adventure Works]

    where

    except([Sales Territory].[Sales Territory].[Country],[Sales Territory].[Sales Territory].[Country].[United Kingdom])

    3) Rollup will work if you to go Select Members pop up, and right click a dimension and select children. It should automatically show the rollup. See the image attached.

    Yes, PerformancePoint is very limiting. I just spent a week learning MDX, only to find out if I write MDX myself, I loose all the ability to drill down in PerformancePoint. Maybe I am not doing something wrong, but still trying to figure it out. MDX is new for me.
