I have a login which I had disable because to my knowledge it's not be use any more however my log & Event Log keeps filling up with the message "Login XXX failed for user, account is disable Error message 18470". Is this account being used in some other process/schedule job? I've check all the jobs on the server and they do not reference that login or nor any of the jobs are the owner of that login. What could be the reason why I'm kept getting that error message. Should I just delete the login instead of disable it.

Better use profiler to find out the login source. You may also check default trace files to check the program name from where its originating.
