  • I would be instrested to hear from fellow SQL DBA's BI etc..

Where do you store your notes ?

By notes I mean any thing from website blogs etc , Sample code, Tips Tricks etc...

The reason I ask this is that I am a freelance DBA / BI guy here in sunny Queensland Australia and I visit several clients in a month

many of these are repeat clients so I try and keep a record of changes that I have made, Important emails etc..

I tend to use Evernote for most of my notes which also include interesting pages from SQLCentral !

however I do not always use my own laptop at client sites and hence do not have access to the desktop client of Evernote and some clients do not like me to access the web from there network etc..

So Question what note taking tool do you use ?

for example: Evernote, txt files on usb stick

  • I use Evernote (subscribed, so I can have local content) on an iPad. In addition I have an USB stick with all the tools and scripts I need. However, I'm not a freelancer and (usually) have access to the internet or network at my workplace.

  • I use .txt and .sql files on a USB (with permission from my company).

    -SQLBill

  • I use an USB with all the tools and scripts and I usually have access to the internet at my workplace.

  • I also carry a USB drive with me to hold my stuff. And yes...I back it up and don't keep it at work. I guess you could say I have two offsite backups, one of which travels with me in my pocket.

  • And what do people use for source control ?

I would be intrested in a free cloud based product or even USB
