Quick question: Will running the distribution job for snapshot replication lock the Publisher tables?
Details: I have 2 SQL Server 2008 servers using Snapshot replication...I set this up 2 days ago and it has failed the past 2 nights...Last night when it failed, it completed the snapshot but the distribution job failed due to having a sorted timestamp column in one of the tables...I did some research and found a work around for that error that includes adding –UseInprocLoader at the end of the bcp command... So my question is: I know that I cant run the snapshot agent during peak hours due to putting a table lock on all the tables, but since the snapshot job completed, I was wondering if I can add that command and re run the distribution agent during peak hours? Not worried about it locking at the Subscriber level, but absolutely cannot run it if it will put a lock on at the Publisher level!
