SnapManager for SQL job

  • Hi....I am new to Snapmanager for SQL jobs trying to find a solution for my issue. I run the SnapManager for SQL Backup wizard to create my job and then schedule the job thru' Sql Studio Manager. When the job runs, it fails every time, stating :-

    Details 'An unexpected Error occured while executing new-backup.

    Details:Cannot invoke this function because the current host does not implement it.

    Stack Trace: at

    System.Managemnt.Automation.Internal.PipelineProcessor.SynchronousExecuteEnumerate(Objectinput, Hashtable errorResults, Boolean enumerate)

    at System.Management.Automation.PipelineNode.Execute(Arrayinput, Pipe outputPipe, ArrayLIST&

    resultList, ExecutionContext.context)

    at System.Management.Automation.statementListNode.ExecuteStatement(ParseTreeNode statement, Array input, Pipe outputPIPE, ArrayList&resultList,ExecutionContext context)

    The job parameters are;

    new-backup -svr '<servername>' -d '<servername>\WSUS', '0' -ver -verInst '<servername>' -mp -mpdir 'D:\Program Files\NetApp\SnapManager for SQL\SnapMgrMountPoint' -retainBackups 7 -lb -bksif -RetainSnapofSnapInfo 8 -trlog -gen -mgmt daily

    Any solutions would be greatfully appreciated to overcome this issue.

  • I see nobody has replied ... I never get any replies when I post questions concerning SnapManager backups either.

    What is the purpose of the " ,'0' " in your parameters list? (located immediately after the instance name) I've never seen this in the param list for a snapmanager for sql call.

  • Wish I could be some help, but the last time I worked with NetApp I passed on SnapManager for SQL as backups and restores were done at the volume level (I believe), meaning if you were not constantly managing where dbs where you could have to restore multiple dbs just needing to do a restore of one.

    Just curious have you checked the NetApp support sites? Have you seen this forum post?
